The Rhino Eye Shield, also known as the Rhino screen, is a lightweight and malleable perforated metal screen that is commonly used to cover an injured or postoperative eye. The white protective cloth cover enhances comfort for the wearer. The Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) Guidelines for Tactical Field Care recommend using a rigid eye shield to cover the eye in case of a penetrating eye injury, instead of a pressure patch. If a penetrating eye injury is suspected, a rapid field test of visual acuity should be performed before covering the eye with the Rhino Eye Shield.
